After a pandemic-induced hiatus, followed by a virtual performance, Barrier-Free Theatre in Carmel, Indiana returned for its first in-person production, World Gone Rocked!

As the name implies, this play deals with an event that turns life upside down for the characters we meet. A dark phantom musician, Wolfgang Peter White, bewitches a band called the Party Animals. Under the control of the phantom, the band does his bidding, putting others under a spell of loneliness and sadness whenever they hear the band's music. A tight-knit family finds a way to break the spell by sharing stories of hope. They spread the message on the local news, ending the phantom's reign.

This story was born from the ensemble's experiences and feelings of the years prior with the pandemic. They also wanted to show a loving supportive family, which is something that many in the ensemble told us was very important to them.

It was a remarkable experience, being back in the theatre with not only the cast of Barrier-Free, but all of their family and friends in the audience as well. In the same way that Drama Therapy can bring about positive change for participants, this performance was incredibly meaningful to a community coming back together. An experience that this group will never forget!
